TWO WAYS TO TAKE THE INITIAL CERTIFICATION EXAMINATION

THE INITIAL MRO CERTIFICATION EXAMINATION
The MROCC Initial Certification examination is open to those physicians who have had appropriate MRO training from an MRO course sponsored by ACOEM, ASAM, or AAMRO.
To apply for the initial certification examination a physician must:
• have graduated from a medical school or school of osteopathic medicine, and hold a current medical license (MD or DO) to practice within the U.S., Its Territories or a Province of Canada, or a Country in which the physician resides and practices.
• have attended, within the past 12 months, an MRO training course sponsored by ACOEM, ASAM or AAMRO.
The MROCC examination is designed to objectively recognize the competence of those physicians who have developed specialized knowledge, and are proficient in the performance of the essential duties of the MRO. Under the direction of Wayne State University, the process of exam development has followed a comprehensive plan to ensure relevance, validity and reliability. Examination items have been developed and critically reviewed by nationally recognized leaders in drug testing drawn from the fields of occupational medicine, addiction medicine, forensic chemistry & toxicology and the legal profession. In addition, leading experts in educational measurement, evaluation and psychometrics have provided guidance to the process.
