CME Activities - MROCC Monograph Series TWO

All monographs include a self-assessment activity for AMA PRA Category 1 CME credit.

The CME will fulfill, in part, both DOT CME requirements for MRO educational updating as

well as MROCC's recertification CME prerequisite. These activities have been planned and

implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Pennsylvania

Medical Society and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)

through the joint sponsorship of University Services and MROCC. University Services is

accredited by the Pennsylvania Medical Society to provide continuing medical Education for

physicians.

An Overview of how State statutes, regulations and relevant case law effect the role and functions of a medical review officer (MRO) in workplace drug and alcohol testing programs, with specific emphasis on programs that are not mandated by Federal rules. A monograph for the experienced MRO presenting drug and alcohol tests results that involve complex and multiple factors in the review, interpretation and final determination. Using a case study approach, the monograph discusses various approaches, decision making and justification used by MROs in reviewing, interpreting and reporting test results for non-Federal programs. Special emphases will include cases involving benzodiazepines, synthetic opioids, steroids, and urine alcohol biomarkers (EtG/EtS)
