EXAMINATION REGISTRATION AREA

MRO INITIAL CERTIFICATION EXAMINATION:
The MROCC examinations are based on 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR Part 40).  MRO
certification is valid for six years, at which time recertification is required to remain in the
directory of currently-certified MROs.

MROCC's Initial Certification Examination may be taken onsite (following all ACOEM and ASAM
MRO training courses) or online (within 12 months of attending an MRO training course).

To apply for the initial certification examination, the physician must:
• have graduated from a medical school or school of osteopathic medicine, and hold a current
medical license (MD or DO) to practice within the U.S., Its Territories or a Province of Canada, or a
Country in which the physician resides and practices.
• have attended, within the past two years, a 12 CME credit hour MRO training course sponsored by
ACOEM, ASAM or AAMRO.

MROA Self-Assessment Tool Option (for recertification)
MRO RECERTIFICATION EXAMINATION:
MROCC's Recertification Examination may be taken onsite (following all ACOEM and ASAM
MRO training courses) or online (with log off and log on priviledges prior to submitting the
exam for scoring).

To apply for the Recertification examination, the physician must:
• have prior or current MRO certification through MROCC or AAMRO
• hold a current medical license (MD or DO) as with Initial Certification
• have obtained 12 CME credit hours of relevant MRO updating within the past three years. The
CME may be from distance learning opportunities such as monographs or CME activities
offered by MROCC, or from onsite MRO training courses sponsored by ACOEM, ASAM or
AAMRO.

MRO ASSISTANT CERTIFICATION PROGRAM:
MROCC's MROA Certification program credentials qualified MRO Assistants through an
online certification examination.  MRO Assistant certification is valid for a three-year period,
at which time recertification is required to remain in the directory of currently-certified
MRO Assistants.
